Who We Are
At Holy Cross Episcopal Church, everyone belongs.
We are a warm and inclusive community of people who strive to follow the Way that Jesus models and teaches. His commandment to love God and love our neighbor as ourselves is our calling (Mark 12:29-31). To us, this means everyone belongs—people of all gender identities, sexual orientations, races, ethnicities, abilities, ages and economic levels. It also means seeking to build God’s kingdom of justice and equity in the community around us. The shared meal of Holy Communion on Sunday nourishes us in this work. Along the journey together, we share joy, sorrow, grace and laughter.

What to expect in worship
Holy Cross is working to providing meaningful worship experiences that connect us in community, while maintaining everyone’s physical health especially in this COVID-19 era. We are a casual, come-as-you-are congregation. Currently, we are offering two Sunday morning services.
Sunday 8:00-8:45 am — In Person This quiet, meditative service features scripture, sermon, and prayers without music. Communion is celebrated but voluntary and not required. The worship is sensory friendly with a soft space and neuro-diverse participants.
Sunday 10:00-11:00 am — Hybrid (In-person AND Virtual) Whether you attend online or in-person, this worship carries the warm and friendly, interactive spirit that characterizes our congregation. Newcomers are welcomed but not singled out in any public way. The service follows a typical format of scripture, sermon, prayers, and (optional) communion. For those on Zoom, the bulletin can be downloaded from our website, and you can sign-in up to 15 minutes early, or stay 15 minutes after, with your Zoom set to “gallery” view for some small-group social time. This service offers a wonderful mix of hymns from different traditions, eras, and regions provided by our music program. Whether you are hungry for community, curious, or just looking for a no-obligation worship experience, you are welcome.
Thursday 10:00-10:30 am – Hybrid This Healing Prayer service allows us to read about a saint of the day, and offer prayers of healing for one another. It is preceded by our hybrid Adult Book Group (same zoom link for both, see above). Come to either or both!
Most Sundays, our worship services begin with some readings, a sermon, and prayers, followed by Holy Communion (a.k.a. the Lord’s Supper). This ancient ritual order goes back to the early church, and we fill it with progressive language often drawn from Celtic and other sources. A Gluten Free wafer is available upon request. We do not use incense and we only decorate the altar area with flowers on a couple of special occasions in the year (mainly Christmas and Easter).
Coffee Hour with light snacks and a chance to socialize follows both services—a great chance to get to know others!
Children are welcome in worship at all times in either service. We provide a “soft space” in the worship space with kids’ books and quiet toys—and we love kid noises anyway!
Accessibility Our facility has barrier free, accessible entrances, with a drive-up, drop off front entrance.
Covid safety measures Our measures shift depending on case counts in the region. Currently we are mask optional. We continue to provide hand sanitizer, have masks available and run two fans and a small HEPA filter throughout worship services. There is room for participants to spread out as they feel comfortable, and we respect those who prefer no-contact greetings. Taking communion is optional: with sanitized hands, the priest or deacon dips a wafer in wine and places it in the communicant’s outstretched hands.
